
Spectrum Institute of Science and Technology (SIST) is incredibly proud to announce that Senuri Ajini Liyanage, Himaw Mataraaracchi, and Poorna Jayamanna, dedicated students from our Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology program, have been honored with the prestigious Best Presenter Award at the 30th International Forestry and Environment Symposium 2026.
Organized by the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, this landmark event took place on January 23 and 24, 2026, at Waters Edge, Colombo. Recognized as South Asia’s longest-running and most prestigious forestry symposium, this year’s 30th-anniversary edition brought together global experts to explore the critical theme “Sustainability in Action”.
The team received this top honor for their outstanding collaborative research presentation titled, “Comprehensive study of functional, biochemical and antibiotic resistance profile of endophytic bacteria in Mymphaea stellata.” Their excellent communication skills, deep scientific knowledge, and impactful findings stood out among a highly competitive field of academics, researchers, and professionals.
This achievement not only highlights the hard work and dedication of Senuri, Himaw, and Poorna, but also reinforces SIST’s commitment to advancing rigorous scientific research that addresses complex biological and environmental challenges.
