Advanced diploma in Applied Microbiology & Biotechnology
The two years of advanced diploma program, internationally accredited by SCQF and Edinburgh Napier
University, offers 240 credits over two years and prepares students for entry into the third year of a
Microbiology & Biotechnology degree. This programme is approved by TVEC (Tertiary and Vocational
Education Commission, Sri Lanka). This bridging course covers practical and academic skills, supporting
further study in related UK degree programs. It includes 200 learning hours per module with
assessments such as tests, assignments, presentations, and laboratory work. Completion of all eight
modules is required to advance.

BSc (Hons) Applied Microbiology & Biotechnology
The Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology program explore microorganisms’ adaptability and their applications in healthcare, food production, and environmental decontamination. It includes practical laboratory work and a final research project, emphasizing skills such as problem-solving, communication, and organization, which are valuable in various field.
Programme delivery in Sri Lanka
The students can enter this degree program at two different points. The students are enrolled to the first year of the degree program through a well-developed program such as International Foundation Program in Science or after acquiring local / Cambridge or Edexcel A/Ls. Advanced Diploma in Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology and other suitable HND programmes feed students to the third year of the programme.
